The One Condos is being developed by Mirzahi developers. This development is owned by Sam Mirzahi. Sam Mirzahi paid 3 million dollars for the requisition of land and this project is said to cost around 1 billion dollars.
Mizrahi has hired the London-based Foster and Partners as the design architect. Core Architects are the local architects. He travelled all the way to London to design the building using an exoskeleton structure. There have been a number of alterations with the buildings’ height and design and most recently, the expensive exoskeleton structure was removed from the tower. It is now only limited to the podium of the building.
Apple is expected to be the anchor tenant of The One, and the retail portion of the tower is scheduled to open in 2018.
The One Condos will be 80 storeys high which will make it second tallest building in Canada after CN Towers.
The plan is to have suites from 650 sq ft to 9000 sq ft. The main attraction of this project is, there will be no shared walls. A customer can choose what design he wants and how he wants his place to be.
The developer when asked about the project said that the basic design is a floor plan that has units in it. People can buy those units and turn them the way they want. It is all up to them. They can choose from 750 square feet, 1300 square feet, 900, 1500 square feet, 600 square feet, or 3000, 5000, 6000, 9000 square feet. Whatever it is, it can be done easily. And it has been designed so. And we can do it because we don’t have sheer walls in this building. So, the whole design can be played around with, or redesigned. The whole floor is our note pad and we are free to draw whatever we want on it, which is really 9500 square feet. That’s our plan. So, we can do whatever we want within that 9500 square feet floor plate, and give true customization the homeowners that they come in, and be able to do things that nobody else has really done
Since the ground floor has been reserved for retail enterprises, The One Condos will see a lot of big names from the world of shops, restaurants and business as its tenants. The location of The One Condos makes it at a point which receives highest pedestrian counts, vehicle counts and is at the transit corner of Toronto. This will soon turn the place into a hub where people will meet each other.
